A newly announced National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) round of grant funding will help one ���߲��о��� professor to develop and run a three-week, residential institute about abolitionism and the Underground Railroad for 25 middle- and high-school teachers.

���߲��о��� is closing the books on a record-setting 2020–21 fundraising year, thanks to the generosity of ���߲��о��� alumni and other supporters.

Joseph Hernon, a military veteran, and firefighter with 10 years of emergency management experience will lead ���߲��о���’s emergency management operations after a nationwide search to fill the vacant role of associate vice president for campus safety, emergency management, and environmental health and safety. 

A total of 17,540 students, from 50 states and 146 countries, applied for admission to the ���߲��о��� Class of 2025, and 913 enrolled in the class, which has an average GPA of 3.77 out of 4.0, up from 3.69 in 2020.

Members of the ���߲��о��� classes of 2022–25 will now benefit from an additional expansion of the University’s no-loan initiative under the ���߲��о��� Commitment.

Ahmet Çeli̇k, PhD candidate and instructor in religion and Middle Eastern studies at Syracuse University, has been appointed as the first campus imam and Muslim student adviser at ���߲��о���.

Two members of the ���߲��о��� Class of 2021, Jake Gómez and William “Paul” McAvoy, will share this year’s 1819 Award, which recognizes character, scholarship, and service to others, best exemplifying the ���߲��о��� spirit.
