Queerfest features wide range of speakers and activities

Campus is in full swing again after spring break, and there鈥檚 more going on around campus than
ever! Here are some of the events you won鈥檛 want to miss.

This week, take part in Queerfest. The annual event kicks off this year with aby Kye Allums, a trans man who is a Division I athlete. The talk will take place in the Hall of Presidents at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a for all LGBTQ and Ally students, faculty, friends, and partners.

Queerfest activities will continue throughout the week, including a talk by film producer and LGBTQ icon on Tuesday and a brown bag lunch on Thursday with queer performance artist, activist, and sex educator .

End Queerfest with the annual Dragball! All are welcome and dressing across gender identities is welcomed but not required. Grab some friends and head down to the Hall of Presidents to have some fun on Sunday at 9 p.m.

On Tuesday, check out At 7 p.m. at Golden Auditorium five short Stan Brakhage films that question the relationship between flesh, the human body, and vision will be screened.

These films show a range of intensely private portrayals of human flesh, including the birth of Brakhage鈥檚 first child and autopsies at a Pittsburg morgue.

The Brakhage films will be followed by Willard Mass鈥檚 1943 surrealist short  Geography of the Body and Pawel Wojtasik鈥檚 9 Gates, which use extreme magnification to explore the terrors and splendors of the human body.

Head over to Brehmer Theater Wednesday through Sunday at 7 p.m. for University Theater鈥檚
production of August Strindberg鈥檚 A Dreamplay.  Director Simona Giurgea, professor of theater, writes that dreams are always more vivid, emotional, and distinct from waking life, and that they restore our capacity to ask old questions anew.
