International film festival returns to Hamilton

will bring Hollywood to the village of Hamilton for the fourth annual Hamilton International Film Festival Aug. 2-5.

Grant Slater ’91 and his brothers Wade and Todd, whose father, Terry Slater, was the head hockey coach at ߲о for 15 years, started the festival four years ago. 

“Part of what we hope to accomplish with our film festival is to promote the arts and culture of the area we grew up in,” said Todd Slater. “The size of Hamilton and how we present the four-day event really forces film makers to interact with each other and the community in general,” added Grant Slater.

and the will host screenings of award-winning movies from around the world including the Oscar-winning film ,  ,  , and . The festival will conclude for another year on Sunday, Aug. 5 with a screening of , presented by ߲о alumni Paul (’94) and Nick Verbitsky (’91). In many instances, the filmakers will be in attendance to talk about their films.

Tickets are $5 per movie or $25 for an all-festival pass. All tickets can be purchased at the Hamilton Theater or by phone at 315-824-8210.

Some of the proceeds from the festival will be dedicated to local organizations and charities. will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the screening of  to Hamilton Central School.
